Pierrel's Board of Directors has appointed Rosario Bifulco, former number one of Lottomatica, as President of the company in which he is a shareholder with 6,27% and confirmed Canio Mazzaro as Chief Executive Officer. The company also announced the purchase of 100% from Hungarian Goodwill Research, active in pharmaceutical contract research in various Eastern European countries, for a sum of 3.3 million euro. <\/p>\n

The Senate has approved the law that gives autonomy to research, guaranteeing institutions the right to elect their own governing bodies. The document also provides for new powers of commissariation, the heads of the entities will be canceled if the Government's 'objectives' are not achieved, but also in cases of 'proven operating difficulties' or 'statutory changes concerning the mission and structure'. <\/p>\n

Pharmaceutical expenditure in the month of July was 5.4% less than in the same period of 2006, confirming the overall trend of -8.9% in the first half of 2007. According to Federfarma data, the reduction in spending is more contained in this month compared to the first 6 months of the year because the comparison is with July of last year, when the effects of the selective cuts in the prices of medicines introduced by AIFA began to manifest themselves and because in July of this year there was a considerable increase in the number of recipes (+9.4%) <\/p>\n
