Few have been vaccinated against influenza A. A behavior probably conditioned by the ways in which the problem has been treated: an alarm more media than real, faced in a non-transparent way, spreading confused and sometimes even contradictory information. But why do Italians adhere so cautiously to the vaccination program? Is it excessive distrust or do they have good reason to be hesitant?
The answer is certainly not easy, but it is probable that the behavior of operators and citizens has been conditioned by the ways in which the problem has been treated: an alarm more media than real, largely unjustified on the basis of scientific evidence, addressed in a non-transparent way, spreading confusing and sometimes even contradictory information. There is enough to explain people's misgivings.
