The Osaka-based company now has 19,600 employees, including 10,300 outside Japan. The largest cut will be made in the United States, where Takeda employs about 5,000 people: 28% of the 1,300 employees at the Deerfield, Illinois site, and 20% of the personnel at the Lake Forest center, also in Illinois, will be cut.
