In June 2013, the seasonally adjusted index of industrial production increased by 0.3% compared to May. On average for the April-June quarter, the index recorded a decrease of 0.9 compared to the previous quarter.<\/p>\n

Corrected for calendar effects, in June 2013 the index decreased by 2.1% in trend terms (there were 20 working days against 21 in June 2012). On average in the first half of the year, production decreased by 4.0% compared to the same period of the previous year.<\/p>\n

In June, the slight cyclical growth in industrial production was driven by the sectors producing intermediate goods (+1.6%) and capital goods (+1.0%), while decreases were recorded for consumer goods (-1.2%) and energy (-0.1%).<\/p>\n

In manufacturing, the largest cyclical increases were recorded in the sectors of rubber and plastics items, other non-metallic mineral processing products (+4.0%) and the manufacture of coke and refined petroleum products (+2.3%).<\/p>\n

In June 2013, the indices corrected for calendar effects recorded tendential decreases in all sectors. Energy decreased significantly (-7.1%) and, to a lesser extent, consumer goods (-3.3%), while intermediate goods (-0.5%) and capital goods (-0.2%) recorded a more limited decrease.<\/p>\n

In comparison with the trend, in June 2013, the sectors with the greatest growth are those of the production of basic pharmaceutical products and pharmaceutical preparations (+2.8%) and the manufacture of means of transport (+2.2%); the one with the greatest decrease is the manufacture of coke and refined petroleum products (-7.2%).<\/p>\n
