There were about 200 Sigma Tau workers on layoffs who met this afternoon at 17:00 in Piazza Indipendenza, in Pomezia. The representatives of the employees who have been laid off for almost three months now took the stage to explain their reasons, to contest the data provided by the pharmaceutical company to justify the state of crisis that led to the use of social safety nets. A few meters above the city council in full swing. Representatives of various parties were present, such as Italia dei Valori, Party of Freedom, Communist Refoundation, Left Ecology and Freedom, Unione Sindacale di Base, as well as several employees of companies in the Pontina area, also affected by the CGIS. “Ours is an announced and authorized demonstration – declared a demonstrator, who has been laid off since 18 January – so we expected the presence of the forces of order here in the square. What surprised us, however, is the fact that police and carabinieri patrols were also sent in front of the Sigma Tau plant, in via Pontina. Maybe the top management thought we would try some force action? We are civilized people, who are peacefully protesting against what for us are blatant lies: Sigma Tau is not in an economic crisis at all, it is just a maneuver aimed at our exit from the company, carried out with criteria that everyone 'today there are strangers”. “We want to underline – added a worker – that the CGIS has not yet been authorized by the Ministry of Labor and Social Policies: what will happen if it is not granted? And why is there still no real and valid industrial recovery plan that could give hope for a relaunch of the company? Our fear is that we only want to reduce costs in view of a sale or a transfer of production to places where labor costs are lower than in Italy. This is why our protest will be periodic and constant, at least until we have certain answers to our doubts".

April 11, 2012 at 7:17 pm <img

Composti, ma decisi.
