Question: I hereby request information on the world of pharmaceutical companies and their continuous movement.<\/p>\n

The question is very generic or very broad in order to be able to give an exhaustive answer in a few lines. It should be noted that, according to Farmindustria, 318 pharmaceutical companies operate in Italy. Among these are the large multinationals, the Italian ones that also have international outlets, the small ones, those that produce branded drugs and those that produce only generics. Each of them has its own goals which may be different from the others. <\/p>\n

Attempting to generalize, as an observer and in my personal opinion, I can say that since 2007 the industrial policy of pharmaceutical companies has changed. The causes can be local and international or both. The market in Western countries has shrunk, the various governments are increasingly adopting restrictive measures on drug prescriptions. The introduction of generics then changed the basic philosophy of making industry. The final decision makers of the prescription then changed, less and less general practitioners, more and more pharmacists and specialists, the AUSL. <\/p>\n

This has led to a refocusing of pharmaceutical companies' objectives towards biotechnological and hospital products which, apart from research, require lower fixed costs (ISF) and higher profits. Basic medicine products are considered low-paying. The search for a new product requires an investment that can even reach a billion dollars.
