The Menarini group has accepted the request to suspend the mobility procedures for workers in the Tuscan plants made last Friday by the councilor for production, work and training, Gianfranco Simoncini. The company had reserved a few days before giving an answer. The news was communicated to councilor Simoncini a little while ago by the managing director of Menarini Domenico Simone, who thus responded to the solicitation of the Region. \u201cWe had asked the company to take a step back \u2013 recalls Simoncini \u2013 pending the convening of the national table on pharmaceuticals, within which the problems raised by the company following the entry into force of the decree on the prescription of generic drugs could be discussed. The company, while reconfirming the reasons underlying its position which it had illustrated in recent days, has agreed to suspend any decision for a month \u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cI noted with satisfaction \u2013 commented councilor Simoncini \u2013 the company's position, convinced that a positive solution can be found within a discussion that can only be done at a national level. This is why I took steps to urge the Undersecretary for Economic Development Claudio De Vincenti to quickly convene the table with the representatives of the Regions, institutions and social partners. The Tuscany Region will work to safeguard the jobs and the wealth of skills represented by the pharmaceutical industry in Italy and in particular in our region".<\/p>\n

On 19 October last, the Menarini Group, represented by the General Manager Domenico Simone, took part in the meeting promoted on the initiative of Councilor Simoncini in the Tuscany Region. During the meeting, the Councilor expressed strong concerns regarding the announcement of over 1,000 redundancies in the Menarini Group, fearing the progressive impoverishment of the pharmaceutical sector, vital for the economy of the Region and the country, and asking the Company to suspend all formal acts pending a rapid reactivation of the sector table at the Ministry of Economic Development.
