(<\/span>AGENPARL) - Rome, Jan 09 - "For the work carried out in his high institutional role by always listening to the problems of the elderly, and in particular for having safeguarded the health of elderly patients through the modification of the rule on the prescription of drugs that prevents risk of drug zapping". This is the motivation with which FederAnziani awarded the "60 and more" award to the Minister of Health Renato Balduzzi. The Award was presented to the Minister in the Auditorium of the Ministry of Health, in the presence of over one hundred FederAnziani delegates and the national secretary of FIMMG, Giacomo Milillo.
\u201cWe thank the minister for having restored certainty to the elderly \u2013 declared the President of FederAnziani Roberto Messina \u2013 through his mediation work around a rule which, in its new formulation, places the choice of drug in the hands of the general practitioner. The new prescription rules - Messina recalled - refer only to new patients, treated for the first time for a chronic pathology, or to new episodes of non-chronic pathology. Nonetheless, the application of the rule had gone far beyond confusing the ideas of many patients. The new wording of the law and the minister's clarifications on its application make it possible to significantly reduce the risk of what we have called "pharmacological zapping".
To the appreciation of FederAnziani was added that of general practitioners, whose National Secretary thanked the Minister of Health for "the concrete intervention for the health of older people and the chronically ill who need to know exactly how to behave \u201d.
"If we were able to do some things - said Minister Balduzzi - for example with regard to the issue of drug prescriptions, it was also thanks to the support of qualified public opinion, of which FederAnziani, due to the capillarity and diffusion of its network and of its information, represents an important articulation\u201d.<\/p>\n

The 60 and more Award is the recognition of FederAnziani born to enhance excellence in the field of health, rewarding those exponents of the world of research, institutions, associations, companies, who have distinguished themselves for the contribution offered to the improvement health and quality of life of older people.<\/p>\n
