The impact of the television series, which aired in October 2013, was evident early on, with 14,000 fewer people a week taking statins than expected.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn the 8 months following the Catalyst broadcast, an estimated 60,897 fewer people took their meds. If this phenomenon continues over the next 5 years, it could lead to between 1,522 and 2,900 preventable and potentially fatal heart attacks,\u201d the authors calculate.
