\"Uomini“Men and pills. History of the Italian pharmaceutical industry and its protagonists<\/span><\/a>\u201d is the new book by Francesco Costantini, publisher Edra.<\/p>\n

The author tackles the task of analyzing the history of "Italian pharmaceuticals" and its protagonists with the professionalism and knowledge of someone who has lived in the pharmaceutical industry in various roles, including that of President of Farmindustria.<\/p>\n

The result is an incisive volume, full of information that cannot be ignored by anyone who wants to understand the reasons why Italy is not in an avant-garde position in the pharmaceutical field.<\/p>\n

This is a situation that should worry politicians and social forces because the pharmaceutical industry is today one of the main economic activities, which is also capable of being a driving force for other related activities: from diagnostics to medical devices, from dietetics to cosmetics. Not being present in the top 20 pharmaceutical companies in the world means having given up a significant cornerstone of the large production areas.<\/p>\n

The Italian pharmaceutical industry plays an important role in the export of raw materials, but this means working in a field with low added value with respect to the production and distribution of the pharmaceutical product.<\/p>\n

L\"\"Graduated in Pharmacy in 1951, the author has spent his entire career working for American pharmaceutical multinationals and also covering, in the two-year period 1994-1995, the position of president of Farmindustria.
