\"\"The offer being examined by the board of Monsanto, which specializes in agricultural seeds and pesticides, would create one of the world's leaders in the agrochemicals sector with an annual turnover estimated at 67 billion dollars.<\/p>\n

With the Monsanto acquisition, Bayer would see its agricultural turnover increase from the current 22% to 40%. The remainder comes from pharmaceuticals and consumer health products.<\/p>\n

The eventual success of Bayer's offer on Monsanto would confirm the tendency towards concentration that has been registered in the sector for some months with operations involving rival groups such as Dow Chemical, DuPont and Syngenta.<\/p>\n
