Generic medicines in Switzerland are more expensive than 53% than abroad. This is indicated by Sant\u00e9suisse<\/h2>\n

Taking as a basis a franc\/euro exchange rate of 1.07 (the same applied by the Confederation), last September generic medicines were more expensive in Switzerland than the 53% than abroad.<\/p>\n

This is indicated by a joint note by Sant\u00e9suisse (an organization of health insurers) and the Interpharma association (which brings together pharmaceutical companies that practice research).<\/p>\n

The international comparison - the eighth - carried out by these two bodies also shows that the price level of patent-protected medicines was 14% higher than that of the nine reference countries taken into consideration by the Federal Office of Public Health (Belgium , Denmark, Germany, Finland, France, Great Britain, the Netherlands, Austria and Sweden).<\/p>\n

The original off-patent drugs were more expensive than 20% than the peer country average.<\/p>\n
