The seasonally adjusted monthly index records positive cyclical changes in the groupings of capital goods (+1.6%), consumer goods (+0.5%) and intermediate goods (+0.3%); on the other hand, the energy sector recorded a negative change (-3.6%).<\/p>\nIn July 2017, the seasonally adjusted index of industrial production recorded an increase of 0.1% compared to June. On average for the May-July 2017 quarter, production increased by 1.4% compared to the previous three months.<\/p>\n
Corrected for calendar effects, in July 2017 the index increased in trend terms by 4.4% (the working days were 21 as in July 2016). On average for the first seven months of the year, production increased by 2.6% compared to the same period of the previous year.<\/p>\n

In trend terms, the indices adjusted for calendar effects recorded significant growth in July 2017 for capital goods (+5.9%); consumer goods (+4.1%), intermediate goods (+3.5%) and energy (+3.3%) also increased significantly.<\/p>\n
As regards the sectors of economic activity, in July 2017 the sectors that recorded the greatest trend growth were those of mining (+8.4%), manufacturing of machinery and equipment nec (+8.0%), food industries, drinks and tobacco and the manufacture of means of transport (both +6.9%); decreases were instead recorded in the sectors of the manufacture of electrical equipment and non-electrical household equipment, the manufacture of computers, electronic and optical products, electro-medical equipment, measuring equipment and watches (both -0.6%) and the textile industries, clothing, leather and accessories (-0.5%).<\/p>\n
