Martin Shkreli<\/strong>, better known in the news as "Pharma Bro", was sentenced in New York to seven years in prison for defrauding investors. The judge punished him for the "many lies" served up but, also acknowledging sincere "remorse", granted some extenuating circumstances to the 34-year-old former hedge fund manager.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>He was arrested in December 2015, just weeks after gaining worldwide fame after the pharmaceutical company he ran, Turing Pharmaceutical, raised the price of the drug by 5'670% Daraprim<\/strong> of which he had acquired the exclusive commercial rights in the USA. One day the preparation (used for decades for the treatment of toxoplasmosis and other infectious diseases) cost 13 dollars. The next one 750. A behavior that had outraged patients, scientists and politicians.<\/p>\n

His bad reputation was fueled by the $5,000 bounty promised to anyone who pulled Hillary Clinton's hair during her latest book tour.<\/p>\n
