This was decided on the night between Friday and Saturday, after long debates, by the Greek Parliament.

The pharmaceutical multinational, we recall, is suspected of having paid bribes to senior political leaders between 2006 and 2015.

Among the alleged corrupt officials are the former Conservative Prime Minister Antonis Samaras, the European Commissioner for Migration Dimitris Avramopoulos and the Governor of the Bank of Greece Yannis Stournaras. They are joined by six other ministers or deputy ministers. All deny the charges. Novartis on Saturday reiterated that it is working closely with the authorities to clarify the matter and that it has launched an internal investigation.

ATS/SP

Related news: That nefarious pact between Roche and Novartis
