\"\"<\/a>The Federal Office of Public Health (FOPH) has reduced the prices of 288 medicines by an average of around 18,82% and this, the FOPH said today, Friday, will allow for savings of 100 million francs in 2018.<\/p>\n

The office annually reviews one third of the medicines on the list of specialties according to criteria of efficacy, appropriateness and cost-effectiveness. As a result of the changes decided in 2017 by the Federal Council, the second third of medicines could already be reviewed in 2018.<\/p>\n

According to the note, price reductions have been decided again this year, affecting 288 of the 543 original preparations reviewed so far. For 255 of them, no reduction was necessary since these, compared with other medicines sold in Switzerland and with those of the reference countries, were still economically convenient.<\/p>\n

Generics, co-marketing medicines and biosimilars were reviewed at the same time as the original preparations. For 134 of these 237 medicines, the review also resulted in a price reduction.<\/p>\n

Save for 2017 too<\/strong><\/p>\n

In the meantime, the 2017 review has been definitively concluded. This resulted in savings of 225 million francs, more than the 190 million estimated in the spring.<\/p>\n
