Bayer continues to have to pay out millionaires in compensation to compensate for the damage caused by the Roundup herbicide produced by Monsanto, a company purchased by the German giant last year. The new blow comes from a US court and is quantifiable in the outlay of 80 million dollars.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>What did the jury decide?<\/h3>\n

The US jury awarded a California resident more than $80 million in damages. Evidence provided during the trial revealed a link between the herbicide and non-Hodgkin's lymphoma contracted by the plaintiff, Edwin Hardeman.<\/p>\n

The six jurors agreed that the man's exposure to the herbicide Roundup (a glyphosate-based product) caused his cancer. The sentence had arrived on March 19 last year (https:\/\/www.cambialaterra.it\/2019\/03\/roundup-bayer-condannata-in-california\/<\/a>). In these hours, however, there has been a ruling on the extent of the damage.<\/p>\n

The figure is also high because it is the jurors' belief that the group acted negligently in failing to adequately warn of the risks associated with the product.<\/p>\n

Bayer will appeal<\/h3>\n

The chemical and pharmaceutical giant said it was disappointed with the sentence that arrived on March 19th. The quantification of the compensation, which arrived in these hours, has certainly not improved the situation. Bayer has already announced that it will appeal.<\/p>\n
