Digital healthcare. In the days between 7 and 9 October this year the \u00a0Popular Digital Festival<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0organized by\u00a0Digital Italy Foundation<\/strong><\/a>. The place that hosted the event at the beginning of the 20th century was the first power plant in Turin \"\"(functioning with coal) and today it has been transformed into a venue for cultural, musical and artistic activities. Called "the cathedral" (because of its architectural typology) it covers approximately 4,500 square meters and can accommodate up to 1,000 people. Now it also houses the Lavazza Museum.<\/p>\n

One of the topics addressed was: \u201cDigital, healthcare for all<\/a>\u201d.<\/p>\n

When we talk about digital in healthcare, we immediately think of telemedicine, artificial intelligence and hardware and software in general. In reality, in order to make the best use of these tools, it is necessary to invest in the processes of healthcare companies and hospitals.<\/p>\n

Also present at the table were representatives of two of the companies that are most using artificial intelligence applied to healthcare: Affidea and Takeda. The first specializes in diagnostic imaging, the second is a pharmaceutical company specializing in oncology, gastroenterology, neuroscience and rare diseases.<\/p>\n

He intervened for Takeda Italia Andrea Pecci<\/strong>, Costumer Excellence&Innovation Head<\/p>\n

During the pandemic Takeda has revised some organizational mechanisms. Those facing outward have strengthened: \u201cAlready in 2014-15 we had introduced a multi-channel engagement for doctors by the scientific informants<\/strong> \u2013 said Andrea Pecci \u2013 The pandemic has therefore found us ready and we have increased this holistic approach\u201d.<\/p>\n

Approximately 30-35% of physicians requested multi-channel engagement. \u201cOur goal is to provide the information \"\"corrected at the right time and in the right place \u2013 continued Pecci \u2013 Today we have much more powerful metrics available than feedback after a chat could have been in the past. We can understand what interests the doctor the most by tracing the articles he reads in our newsletter, the topics he focuses on the most and so on. This way we can provide them with a much more personalized experience."<\/p>\n

The real revolution, however, took place in the internal company organization: "Digitalization has allowed us to change the paradigm, setting up a new working model within the offices - explained Pecci - We asked people to change their mindset: we are no longer paid for the time we give to the company, but for what we produce, for the achievement of the established objectives. It is a mix of agile and intelligent work\u201d.<\/p>\n

The fallout from this organizational system has a positive impact on the planet (employees move less and therefore pollute less) and on personal well-being (the greater flexibility allows for a better balance with private life).<\/p>\n

\u201cAt first those used to office life felt a little oppressed \u2013 admitted Pecci \u2013 In the early days we witnessed an overproduction of emails and video calls. Today, however, everything works better: we have the right to disconnect and we know not to respond immediately to a message. If there is an emergency, we are called\u201d.<\/p>\n
