{"id":68195,"date":"2022-10-24T12:33:10","date_gmt":"2022-10-24T10:33:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.fedaiisf.it\/?p=68195"},"modified":"2022-10-27T12:04:29","modified_gmt":"2022-10-27T10:04:29","slug":"pelini-le-valutazioni-sul-riso-rosso-fermentato-non-sono-scientifiche-ma-politiche","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.fedaiisf.it\/en\/pelini-le-valutazioni-sul-riso-rosso-fermentato-non-sono-scientifiche-ma-politiche\/","title":{"rendered":"Pelini: evaluations on red fermented rice are not scientific but political"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>We receive and publish:<\/em><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Paolo Pelini : EFSA&#039;s scientific assessment of the dangerousness of the effects of monacolin K contained in fermented red rice is completely anti-scientific in nature, like the many pseudo reports on natural <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-66033 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/www.fedaiisf.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/EFSA-sede.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"403\" height=\"239\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.fedaiisf.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/EFSA-sede.png 1105w, https:\/\/www.fedaiisf.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/EFSA-sede-300x178.png 300w, https:\/\/www.fedaiisf.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/EFSA-sede-1024x607.png 1024w, https:\/\/www.fedaiisf.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/EFSA-sede-768x455.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 403px) 100vw, 403px\" \/>recent and very political!<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Here is what it indicates<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">In a 2018 scientific assessment the European Food Safety Authority (<strong>Efsa<\/strong>) had however raised doubts about the safety of these products because the intake of monacolin from red yeast rice through food supplements could lead to exposure to the active ingredient in the range of therapeutic doses of lovastatin. Furthermore, the adverse effect profile of red yeast rice is also similar to that of lovastatin; among those reported, the main ones concerned musculoskeletal and connective tissue (including rhabdomyolysis), liver, nervous system, gastrointestinal tract, skin and subcutaneous tissue.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">From here EFSA concluded that 10 mg of monacolin from red yeast rice in food supplements could pose a public health problem.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Moreover, the same effects were observed \u2013 albeit in fewer numbers at lower doses.
