ISTAT. In July, industrial production of pharmaceutical products contained a limited decline: -1.4%

In July 2020, the seasonally adjusted industrial production index is estimated to increase by 7.4% compared to June. On average for the May-July quarter, the level of production grew by 15.0% compared to the previous three months.

The seasonally adjusted monthly index shows widespread economic increases in all sectors: capital goods (+11.8%), intermediate goods (+7.7%), consumer goods (+6.2%) and marginally energy (+0.1%).

Corrected for calendar effects, in July 2020 the overall index decreased in trend terms by 8.0% (the working days were 23 as in July 2019). Tendency declines characterize all sectors; the decline is more pronounced for intermediate goods (-11.3%), while it is less significant for the other aggregates, with decreases of 6.8% for capital goods and energy and 6.2% for consumer goods.

All the main sectors of economic activity recorded decreases on a trend basis. The most accentuated are those of the manufacture of coke and refined petroleum products (-21.4%), of the textile, clothing, leather and accessories industries (-20.6%), of the manufacture of means of transport (-11.5%); the minor dips, however, are observed in the food, beverage and tobacco industries (-0.4%), in the production of basic pharmaceutical products and pharmaceutical preparations (-1.4%) and in other industries (-4.4%).
