Roche Italia with the Ministry of Health for volunteers toll-free number COVID-19

Roche Italy makes available to Ministry of Health a part of its highly specialized staff to support the first-level operators of the number 1500.

From this offer, the memorandum of understanding signed by the Ministry of Health and Roche Italy which start the first voluntary project of competence in times of COVID-19.

250 people responded to the campaign launched by Roche Italia, the 25% of all the personnel of the Group's Italian subsidiary in its three divisions (Roche Pharma, Roche Diagnostics, Roche Diabetes Care).

Roche Italia professionals will support the first-level operators of the 1500 number starting from 1 April, significantly increasing the switchboard's response capacity.

The toll-free number 1500 provides various levels of assistance and support for citizens. The first level of assistance provides help in understanding the indications contained in the various decrees issued by the Government regarding the containment of the infection, as well as general information on hygiene precautions and rules of conduct useful for containing the transmission of the virus.

The second level of support, provided by health managers and cultural mediators in foreign languages who respond from the Ministry's Operations Room, supports citizens who need support or more specific indications, of a health nature, such as those required in the presence of potentially referable to COVID-19 infection

Roche. The first relevant volunteering project to deal with the COVID-19 emergency is underway

 A wave of questions and requests for information is the one that invests operators of the public utility toll-free number 1500 set up by Minister Roberto Speranza every day since the early stages of the health emergency.

From 29 February to today, over 400,000 calls have been handled by first and second level operators, thanks to a service active 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, with an average of 23,000 incoming calls per day.

Continuing to provide this fundamental service to citizens and managing the exponential increase in the number of requests requires an ever-increasing investment in terms of dedicated personnel.

It is also in offering their human and professional capital that private companies can support the institutions: this is what Roche Italia has done by making part of its highly specialized personnel available to the Ministry of Health to support the first-level operators of the number 1500.

The 'competent volunteering' activity of its employees is part of the operation "Roche does it in 4”, the program launched by Roche Italia which includes 4 initiatives to support Institutions, Healthcare Professionals and Citizens in facing and overcoming the Coronavirus emergency.
