While awaiting the assessments of the European Commission, which will express a binding opinion for all EU countries, the Italian Medicines Agency has changed the dispensing regime of medicines containing nimesulide. From now on, these drugs can only be prescribed with a non-repeatable prescription (RNR). With this provision, Aifa aligns itself with what was expressed by the EMEA at the conclusion of the review process of nimesulide initiated by Ireland, which confirmed a favorable risk/benefit ratio, while emphasizing the need for therapeutic cycles not exceeding 15 days
