CAMPANIA: Are generic drugs reliable?

ROME. Are bioequivalent drugs reliable? In a report distributed to family doctors, produced by the Campania regional health department, it is clearly stated that generics contain from 80% to 125% of the same active ingredient contained in the branded drug, that generics are not all the same, that they can differ from branded drugs in terms of excipients. Considering these premises, it is natural to ask if generics are really reliable and if it is appropriate to replace them with branded ones to reduce regional and national health expenditure? But then this expense is really reduced?

Considering that the State reimburses the cost of the generic to the pharmacist, charging the citizen with the extra expense, and that the patient is often forced to prolong or change the treatment due to the ineffectiveness, insufficiency or side effects attributable to the generic, perhaps the expense it does not reduce. But it's a personal opinion. We offer you that of an insider.
