Dompè: lengthening of the average life of 40% thanks to the drugs

"The successes in lengthening the average lifespan are due to the merits of 40% to drugs and for 60% to the change of culture in lifestyles". This was underlined by Sergio Dompe', former president of Farmindustria at the helm of the pharmaceutical company of the same name, speaking on the second day of work on the Biogem campus in the Ariano Irpino headquarters, in the province of Avellino, closing the conference dedicated to the theme of 'research and pharmaceutical industry in the history of Italy'. Dompe' recalls that the sector currently sees the employment of 66,700 workers and 6,000 researchers for 2.4 billion in investments: "but if better organized, the system can give much more - warns Dompe' - our brains even go abroad but the real question concerns the lack of attraction to then return to Italy: it is an effort that we must activate if we want to make our system truly competitive". For the former president of Farmindustria, "this is precisely the challenge to take on for the future. After all - he observes - today our pharmaceutical companies have precise and well-defined strategies, even if obviously it cannot be said with certainty that all will be crowned with success".
