According to the survey, the pharmaceutical sector is characterized by a much more significant managerial and executive component than the rest of the process industrial sector, and by a constantly increasing youth component.

In 2017, wages grew on average by 0.2%. Lower trend than that recorded in 2016, in which wages had grown on an annual basis by 2.1%. In the panorama of the Italian salary market, the salaries of executives are approximately double those of executives, three times those of white collar workers and four times those of blue collar workers. In 2017, executives recorded a slight salary increase (+0.6%) compared to the previous year. For executives, the variable portion is substantial, equal to an average of over 19 thousand euros and referring to the 77.8% of executives who received a variable portion in the last year. The average incidence on the GAL of these figures is equal to 20.2%.

As regards the dynamics of remuneration in the pharma supply chain, the sector is precisely the second best paid in Italy, with an average gross annual gross salary of over 40,000 euros. The salary trend in 2017 was slightly positive for the pharmaceutical sector, with an increase of 0.3% in line with the trend observed on a national scale. In the last 4 years and also in the last year, the remuneration dynamics in the sector have been positive for white collars, negative for managers and executives. The pharmaceutical sector pays executives in line with the national market, slightly higher managers, decidedly higher employees (about 4,400 euros on average more).
