"For the Italian health care the forecasts are for an increase in spending, about 4 billion more in 2010-2011". Welfare Minister Maurizio Sacconi said this on the sidelines of the third Forum on Risk Management in Healthcare underway in Arezzo. "It is necessary to curb the dynamics of expenditure, not to cut it, it is necessary to rationalize - added the minister - I think it is possible to achieve more ambitious objectives in terms of cost-benefit ratio". In addition, the minister added, "a good management model of healthcare allocates more than half of its resources to the local area. Bad models, on the other hand, in fact calibrate all the services on the general hospital" For this reason he underlined how it is necessary to "accelerate the reorganization times of the backward models" which are characterized "mainly by being centered on an excessive network of general hospitals with marginal character".
