ISTAT. Industrial production. Pharmaceutical +1%

In November 2015, the seasonally adjusted index of industrial production decreased by 0.5% compared to October. On average for the September-November 2015 quarter, production grew by 0.4% compared to the previous quarter.

Corrected for calendar effects, in November 2015 the index increased in trend terms by 0.9% (there were 21 working days against 20 in November 2014). On average for the first eleven months of the year, production grew by 1.1% compared to the same period of the previous year.

The seasonally adjusted index shows negative monthly cyclical variations spread across all the main sectors. Consumer goods (-1.3%), capital goods (-0.8%), energy (-0.7%) and intermediate goods (-0.4%) decreased.

In trend terms, the indices adjusted for calendar effects signal, in November 2015, increases in the sectors of capital goods (+3.6%), energy (+2.1%) and intermediate goods (+0.7%). The only one of the main industrial groupings to record a negative change is that of consumer goods
(-1,8%).

As regards the sectors of economic activity, in November 2015, the sectors that recorded the greatest tendential growth are those of the manufacture of means of transport (+13.6%), the manufacture of coke and refined petroleum products (+10.5%) and the manufacture of chemicals (+5.2%). The greatest decreases were found in the sectors of the textile, clothing, leather and accessories industries (-5.1%), the manufacture of computers, electronic and optical products, electro-medical equipment, measuring devices and watches (-4.9%) and food, beverage and tobacco industries (-3.6%).
