Lorenzin, I will bring the question of drug prices to the CDM

"I will bring to the Council of Ministers" the problem of the very high cost of the new "anti-hepatitis C" drugs and also of some anti-cancer drugs that will hit the market between now and 2015. Some decisions I can't take alone and there is a need for a vision of government".

This was highlighted by the Minister of Health, Beatrice Lorenzin, participating in

Rome at a Federfarma conference. Lorenzin recalled that the ministry "is preparing a national plan against hepatitis C, which cannot ignore the new therapies.

Aifa is negotiating the price of the first product to arrive and we hope it will get as low as possible, which still translates into one billion euros as an initial impact.

Italy is being watched with interest at the moment on this issue. I also asked Undersecretary Claudio De Vincenti to set up a table with the Ministry of Economic Development and the Economy to imagine a new path of negotiation with industry: a radical change of policies is needed, where we cannot give market guarantees , but certainly guarantees of rules, to make our country competitive in terms of investments.

Let's start with the drug against hepatitis C but we need to rethink the payment relationships between industry and the state".
