Pharmacists protest spreads to the whole of Campania
By Marco Malagutti

In fifteen days indirect assistance will start throughout Campania. This was decided by the regional assembly of Fedefarma after the meeting with the staff of the president of the Region Stefano Caldoro produced no results. "Interlocutory meeting" declared the provincial president of Federfarma Michele Di Iorio, "we have proposed a program of deferred payments until December 2012". The Region has undertaken to evaluate the pharmacists' plan and will give an answer within a week. Meanwhile, the strike goes on and will also involve the provinces of Salerno, Caserta, Avellino and Benevento, making the alternative chosen by many buyers useless. sale of the other provinces, with hundreds of requests especially in the pharmacies of the Salerno and Casertano areas. The only alternative at that point, apart from isolated cases of pharmacies that have yielded to customers, selling medicines without cashing in, will remain the municipal pharmacies. In these establishments, the service continues to be guaranteed without asking customers to advance the costs of the therapies. On the contrary, we work at a fast pace.

Pd Campania, on strike more decisiveness from Caldoro
«The strike of Campania pharmacists reconfirms the question of the financial sustainability of the Campania health system. Reorganization and rationalization are indispensable, but they do not resolve the main issue of the system's crisis which is represented by underfinancing». So Giuseppe Russo, Pd group leader in the Campania regional council, and Enzo Amendola, regional secretary of the Democrats, intervene in a note on the protest called by Neapolitan pharmacists against late payments by the local health authorities. «You cannot marry dried figs – write the two exponents of the Democratic Party – also because any effort could be in vain if this data were to persist. President Stefano Caldoro will meet the national government in the coming days. We invite him to fight more resolutely than he has done so far, so that Campania does not have to suffer the repercussions of a hostile and, in the light of the facts, unjust takeover bid, inspired by a group of consortia with a Northern League background ", they add. "Meanwhile, the Democratic Party and the regional group are asking the junta to put in place all the tools to stop a strike that strongly affects, and in particular for those who need it most, the constitutional principle of protecting and safeguarding health", they conclude Russo and Amendola.
