Spain. AstraZeneca has announced it will start a collective redundancy process in the coming weeks that will affect around 100 employees in its marketing, assistance and communications division.
AstraZeneca said it "made this decision with responsibility and commitment, after an analysis on the need to adapt to market challenges and become more competitive, and to be more efficient and effective to further develop and deliver innovative treatments for patients." .
Meetings will begin as early as today "with the workers' representatives so that together we can reach agreements that minimize the effects of this decision".
Although this news represents an 11.7 per cent reduction in AstraZeneca's workforce in Spain, the company "wants to reaffirm its strong long-term commitment and scientific potential in the country".
