Two changes in the Hippocratic Oath

The Central Committee of the National Federation of Orders of Surgeons and Dentists (Fnomceo) launched two innovations to be introduced in the text of the Hippocratic Oath. The first is the commitment to to avoid any undue conditioning” in the exercise of the profession, the second is the commitment to “promoting the therapeutic alliance with the patient”.
The latest version of the Oath dates back to 1998. According to Fnomceo, "the new Oath is a sort of secular initiation rite, which marks the entrance into a millenary profession", but subject to even very sensitive changes, given the continuous evolution of science , and the new ethical problems this creates. "In this compromise between the confirmation of a millennial role on the one hand, and the changing social context and scientific perspectives on the other", the new text was born, "updated in the drafting but not in the moral tension compared to the very ancient one of Hippocrates".
