A million-billion mistake in the votes in the courtroom on the decree connected to the Budget. In fact, an amendment by the centre-right passed, on which the Government had given a favorable opinion, which allocates the astronomical figure of 2,467,253 million euros (that is, almost two thousand billion and a half, just under five million billion old lire) for operation of the National Medicines Agency. The president of the Budget commission, Enrico Morando, noticed this, warning the assembly of the enormity of the figure indicated ("practically zillions") which before the final vote will have to be brought back to the more reasonable value of two and a half million EUR. The amendment provides for an increase in the staff of the Agency, which has the task of registering and authorizing new medicines, of carrying out the fundamental checks to verify their effectiveness in protecting health.
