Pharmaceuticals: Alfasigma is born, a new center with a turnover of 900 million

(AGI) - Bologna, May 18 – In the past few days, the operation was finalized which provides for the transfer to the newly established parent company Alfasigma of the pharmaceutical activities and related subsidiaries of Alfa Wassermann and Sigma-Tau, two of the most important Italian pharmaceutical groups with a strong presence also in international level.

Alfasigma will have the task of governing the aggregation of the two transferred corporate structures, as well as determining their strategic and development guidelines. Alfasigma's shareholding sees the majority, with a 75 percent share, held by the Golinelli family. Some members of the Cavazza family hold 20 percent and Intesa Sanpaolo, already a shareholder of Sigma-Tau, maintains the remaining 5 percent stake.

The new group, informs a note, is among the top five operators in Italy in the pharmaceutical sector, both for prescription and self-medication products, with a turnover of over 900 million euros. The industrial project envisages the further development of the business both in Italy and abroad, thanks to the synergies that will be created, to the greater resources from devote to R&D and manufacturing activities.

At an international level, Alfasigma is already present in 18 countries, with around 2,800 employees, of whom around 1,840 work in Italy and 960 in foreign branches. The operating offices in Italy are in Bologna, Milan, Pomezia, Alanno and Sermoneta. Marino Golinelli, founder of Alfa Wassermann, was named honorary president of Alfasigma; Stefano Golinelli has assumed the position of president and Andrea Golinelli of vice president, with responsibility for innovation. The parent company will be led by the managing director Giampaolo Girotti, with direct responsibility also for the two operating companies and the related subsidiaries.
