Pharmaceuticals: Ucb sells production sites in Italy and Germany

Involved Pianezza plant (Turin) (Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) – Brussels, Dec 15 – The Belgian group ucb sold three production units, two in Germany and one in Italy, which employ a total of 600 workers, to the British Aesica. Thus a note from the Belgian company, which specifies that the three sites are located in Monheim and Zwickau, in Germany, and in Pianezza (Turin). The employees, he specified, "will continue their work and will be transferred to Aesica". The operation should be formalized within the first quarter of 2011. UCB explained "that it no longer needs to have large production units for chemicals, while its needs at the biotechnological level are increasing".
