Medicines: in 2011 citizens spent 6.3 billion (+3.1%)

In 2011, the citizens' contribution to expenditure on medicines amounted to 6.3 billion with an increase of 3.1% compared to 2009. This is revealed by the data of the 2011 Sic (Health in figures) report promoted by Federanziani, presented in Rome. The report also shows that in the period 2009 -2011 the expenditure for medicines supported by the NHS decreased by 4.2% reaching 12.3 billion in 2011.
