Federanziani: "Reduce executive premiums to pay for medicines for the elderly"

The provocation was launched by Roberto Messina, president of Federanziani Senior Italy

Recover the funds necessary to pay for medicines for the elderly by reducing the 800 million euros that public managers receive every year as a performance bonus. To launch the provocation is Roberto Messina, president of Federanziani Senior Italia, following the request of the Regions to bring forward to June the revision of the pharmaceutical handbook, initially scheduled for December 2015, to save around 200 million euros.

“We have an army of 48,000 executives who are among the highest paid in Europe and whose performances are so brilliant as to deserve a burdensome recognition for the public coffers – says Messina – It would be an important signal from those who do not always shine for efficiency, accept a small sacrifice to allow the Italian people to continue to be treated".

The president of Federanziani proposes for the current year a reduction in the production bonuses of public executives equal to 30%, for a total of 240 million euro. “If 400 million are needed next year – he adds – we propose to reduce the 50% premiums for the year 2016, in order to guarantee a fair redistribution of income and to be able to support the sick”.

Editor's note: it would be enough to abolish the "savings" prizes for medicines!
