ISTAT. In November collapse of the industrial production of pharmaceutical products (-8.2%)

In November 2020, the seasonally adjusted industrial production index is estimated to decrease by 1.4% compared to October. On average for the September-November quarter, the level of production grew by 2.1% compared to the previous quarter.

The seasonally adjusted monthly index grows on a cyclical basis only for intermediate goods (+0.2%); on the other hand, consumer goods (-4.0%), energy (-3.6%) and capital goods (-0.6%) decreased.

Corrected for calendar effects, in November 2020 the overall index decreased in trend terms by 4.2% (there were 21 calendar working days against 20 in November 2019). Tendency declines characterize all sectors; the reduction is less pronounced for intermediate goods (-0.2%) and capital goods (-2.8%), while it is more significant for consumer goods (-9.8%) and energy (-5.6%) .

The sectors of economic activity that recorded the greatest trend increases are the manufacture of electrical equipment (+5.9%), the manufacture of articles in rubber and plastic materials (+2.9%) and the manufacture of means of transport (+2.9%). 3%). The largest push-ups are recorded in the textile, clothing, leather and accessories industries (-26.7%), in the manufacture of coke and refined petroleum products (-18.3%) and in manufacture of basic pharmaceutical products and preparations (-8.2%).
