New spaces for graduates in pharmacy and Ctf

   Paul Court

New job prospects for pharmacy and CTF graduates. At least this is what the bill 3899 foresees, first signatory Giuseppe Ruvolo of the Misto-Noi Sud Libertà e Autonomia group, assigned on 21 December to the Social Affairs commission of the Chamber. In substance, the text permits the practice of the profession in private chemical analysis laboratories, in drug addiction services, in prisons with more than two hundred people between employees and inmates, in private nursing homes with at least one hundred beds, on cruise ships and long-distance trains. Furthermore, the bill provides for the access of pharmacy and CTF graduates to teaching in lower secondary schools. Positive comments on the bill come from the president of Fenagifar. «We have been waiting for such a proposal for years» explains Paolo Corte (in the photo) «we enthusiastically welcomed the initiative to facilitate the exercise of the profession and we consider the presence of the pharmacist to be important wherever a drug is dispensed» continues Corte «it is a perfect solution to optimize human resources in the world of pharmacy and also emphasizes the professionalism of the entire category".

Mnlf, monopoly risk in the bill

Flashes of light and lots of shadows. This is how we can summarize the position of the National Free Pharmacists Movement in relation to the draft Law 3899 aimed at broadening the employment prospects of pharmacy and CTF graduates. Some certainly positive aspects, observes a press release from Mnlf, concern the inclusion in private clinical analysis laboratories and nursing homes with at least one hundred beds. For purely economic reasons, inclusion in drug addiction services and penitentiary facilities is more perplexing. Even the prospect of restoring the teaching faculty to the pharmacist, favorable in itself, seems difficult to achieve due to lack of resources. Finally, the Movement of Free Pharmacists concludes its comment, the possibility of establishing dispensaries in airports, railway stations and service areas of the motorway network as an exception to the organic plan, is characterized by the "usual monopolistic temptation". Mnlf, in fact, sees the intention of obtaining new privileges for the owners, instead of thinking about expanding the spaces of the free professional practice.
