Over a thousand illegal drugs seized in Chinese herbal medicine

By Editorial board on August 5, 2012

Wednesday morning, at 10.30, the Anti-abuse Unit of the Local Police of Milan, during a normal check on a commercial activity in via Messina 3 (Sarpi area), he seized over a thousand over-the-counter drugs sold illegally at the Kan Nine herbalist's shop.

The seized medicines could only be sold by qualified personnel (pharmacist or doctor) and had the "OTC" label which allows them to be sold exclusively in pharmacy, hidden by the sale price tag. A fair amount of the products seized fell into the category of antibiotics, and also contained the leaflets in Chinese.

Officers searched two stores in the vicinity of the commercial activity where most of the drugs were located. A thirty-year-old woman, CL of Chinese nationality, was reported for abusive exercise of the medical profession. Investigations are still underway to verify the origin of the seized drugs.
