A real scam that fed the black market for drugs. This is what the Carabinieri of Rome discovered when they arrested a Neapolitan couple, 50 years old for him, 49 for her. The two had devised a scam that was based on the same modus operandi. At first they stole full exemption prescriptions for expensive drugs from unsuspecting doctors' offices. Then they went to the pharmacies to collect the drug. Finally they resold it. The collaboration between the carabinieri and the pharmacies of the capital blocked the plan of the two.

INFORMATION CAMPAIGN – In fact, thanks to an accurate information campaign carried out by the Carabinieri del Nas in Rome inside the pharmacies, the report of 2 suspects reached the Carabinieri in Piazza Venezia.

THE STOP – Shortly afterwards, the Carabinieri of the Command of Rome in Piazza Venezia managed to block them in two separate pharmacies nearby. The man was caught having a prescription with a false name - however with a total exemption code - while he was in line, waiting for the delivery of a drug that costs more than 50 euros per pack. The accomplice was instead blocked, just out of another pharmacy, where she had already managed to get 4 packs of the same drug, with the same modus operandi, without paying anything.

DRUG DEAL – Once searched, the two were found in possession of 81 packs of the same medicine, for a total value of around 3700 euros, as well as 76 prescriptions from the national health system, which were found to have been stolen from some private medical practices in the province of Latina , all bearing the identities of non-existent people, but with total exemption codes, and signed by doctors who were found to be unrelated to the facts.

The immediate investigations made it possible to ascertain that in the last 2 days the couple had made purchases in 4 different pharmacies in the center, with 7 different recipes. The packages thus obtained would probably have been placed on sale in the circuit of the illegal and dangerous sale of drugs. The two arrested were transferred to the prison of Regina Coeli and Rebibbia. They will have to answer for fraud and receiving stolen goods.
