Health: generic drugs are discussed in the Senate

(AGENPARL) - Rome, May 10 - Generic drugs as a tool to free up resources for innovation. The focus organized by Aboutpharma in collaboration with Assogenerici on stage today in the Chapter House of the Senate revolves around this. The Minister of Health, Renato Balduzzi, and Senators Antonio Tomassini and Claudio Gustavino will also take part in the event. The round table will be an opportunity for dialogue between the players in the sector also in the light of the liberalization strongly desired by the Monti government.
There are still several issues to be resolved to allow generic medicines to take off. From quality to therapeutic efficacy, to replaceability, to the nocebo effect or the negative or unwanted reactions that a subject manifests following the administration of a completely inert fake, but perceived by him as harmful.

Under the magnifying glass of the conference, not only the evolution of the drug market in Italy, but also the international scenario with the intervention of Sergio Liberatore of the CEO and Generali Manager, Insert Health. Italy, while not recording interesting volumes on generic medicines, is not affected by the pressure on prices as occurs in other countries. A pressure that puts companies in difficulty. Italy is in line with other countries for the level of penetration of generics, despite the gap on biosimilars, but the weight of the brand is more accentuated.
