Zika virus: a biotech group in India already has a vaccine ready

NEW DELHI (WSI) – Bharat Biotech, Indian pharmaceutical company owned by Krishna Ella, is the first in the world to have two vaccines against the spread of the Zika virus.

"On the Zika virus we are probably the first vaccine company in the world to file a patent application for a vaccine about nine months ago.”

This is the declaration of Krishna Ella, head of the pharmaceutical company that has asked the Indian government to be able to carry out experiments on animals and humans.

The virus has infected millions of people worldwide Latin America and could spread all over the world. It does not cause serious harm in adults, and most of the disease is asymptomatic. The alarm is for pregnant women: by transmitting the virus to the fetus, it could cause microcephaly, a malformation of the skull and head that does not grow, to the unborn child.
