Abruzzo. Healthcare in the storm.

ASK. Sounds like a family war between doctors. Francesco Di Meco, Anaao-Assomed company secretary at the Ss. Annunziata hospital, against Amedeo Budassi, medical director of the ASL of Chieti, but for a long time a leading exponent of the same medical union.

In reality it is much, much more: it is an attack on the effectiveness of generic medicines and it is a request for measures against family doctors who do not do their bureaucratic work well and do not respect the rules of the convention, which should be suspended for non-compliance with the contract.

It all stems from the ASL circular on the appropriateness of medicinal prescriptions, which follows the report of sub-commissioner Baraldi who in early December complained of the overrun of the ceiling for pharmaceutical expenditure. In short, according to the ASL, more attention must be paid to the cost of the drugs that are prescribed.

«It's time to end it - Di Meco replies to the circular with an official letter which, however, has not received a response - the hospital doctors are already too exasperated by the welfare consequences of the failed regional reorganization operational program to think of anything else. I remind you that some time ago you claimed that by now the bottom had been scraped and that the discomfort of hospital doctors was unsustainable ».
