   Dear Tonio,
I am sending you, as promised, a reminder of the latest events at Pfizer.
As you may have known, on December 15th the company officially announced that it had sold the 2 lines called Labs and Powers to Marvecs. It was a rumor that was already circulating after we were told that the company wanted to LIGHTEN about 400 people.
The reasons are those of an adaptation of the company to the new situation of the Italian pharmaceutical market, due to the foreseeable drop in turnover in 2007 due to the reduction in prices imposed by the Ministry of Health, the expiry of the patents of some important drugs (Cardura, Diflucan , Norvasc) as well as future regional regulations regarding the regulation of scientific information. The choice of the aforementioned lines would be linked to the fact that they would have been the most penalized by these events.
We asked for more information on this operation and we were told that we would find ourselves with a permanent contract, but no further details. An appointment has been made for our AMs for January 9, 2007 with the management of Marvecs, but we have asked to be able to meet again with the Pfizer management in order to clarify what was left pending. In the meantime, the ISF of all lines, contesting the company decision, have mobilized, and continue to do so, both through the company e-mail, and studying legal and union actions and proposing alternative maneuvers to the plan presented to us. In the meantime, a trade union meeting organized by SLF cobas was held in Rome on 5 January.
On that occasion, a strike was called for January 15, a strike which also seems to be supported by Fulc itself which will meet Pfizer top management on the same date. Fulc also asked the company for a trade union meeting for all external forces, which was granted and will take place on January 10 in Naples for southern Italy, and on January 11 in Bologna for the north. I will be in Bologna and I will inform you by e-mail of the news and proposals resulting from these meetings.
I hope this news can be published on our site in relation to what is happening at Pfizer.
   An affectionate greeting.
          Marco Arnò
