Novartis profit drop

Contraction of 42% in the third quarter. Pharma giant talks about 'exceptional effects'

Tuesday 27/10/15 – RSI NEWS

Novartis faces sharp fall in profit. For the third quarter of the year, it stood at 1.8 billion francs, an annual decrease of 42%.

According to the pharmaceutical industry giant, this decline can be explained by "exceptional elements": the company cites in this sense an extraordinary gain obtained in 2014 thanks to a sale of shares, as well as the creation of a commission intended for the costs of legal disputes.

However, a decrease was also recorded in terms of turnover: the company's turnover fell by 6% and currently reaches a total of 12.3 billion dollars.
