Seals to a pharmaceutical company in Ronco Scrivia, Ecobi Farmaceutici. Although the Italian Medicines Agency had revoked the production licence, the owners of the company continued to produce medicines. And to the expired ones, they changed the label to resell them as if they had just been produced.

AIFA, the drug agency, has ordered the immediate withdrawal of the packs both in Italy and abroad. The checks ascertained "insufficient suitable technical personnel" and revealed the scam to "revive" the expiry date of the products.

The carabinieri of the anti-sophistication unit seized 97,000 packages and a large quantity of expired drugs in the company warehouse, as well as two tons of active ingredients.

The value of the seized industrial complex, of the drugs and of the products useful for the manufacture of medicines is not less than five million euros. Five people, including legal representatives and employees of the company, have been reported for the "production and marketing of faulty and imperfect medicines".

No fewer than twenty employees worked in the Ronco company, which had been on the market for decades.
