Boehringer. Letter Dear Colleague …

Dear Colleague,

you too, like me, will have noticed that we are living through Boehringer's worst days here in Italy. Since that list was published it has been clear to everyone that nothing will ever be the same again.

Each row of those 173 in the list represents a job position but, more than anything else, it represents a person. A person who, from one day to the next, finds himself afraid of the future, with the awareness that someone, in a way and at an unknown time, has decided that his job is no longer useful to the company.

What I'm asking you is to stop, for a moment, and imagine yourself in the shoes of someone who recognized themselves on the list: someone wrote, in black and white, that what you do every day, with sacrifices and effort, is no longer of any use.

In recent days I've heard everything said: that nothing can be done about it, that it's natural that certain things go this way, that in one way or another, an agreement will be reached that will satisfy everyone. I say that not only the result is important but also how we got there, because certain situations always leave scars

And how are we going to get there if no one speaks up?

Do we stand still and shut up while those who are supposed to care and worry about people sit around stalling and playing short as if it were a game of poker? I believe that we all deserve something better, I believe that each of us must be indignant and raise our heads and demand that, in this situation, people are the most important thing, not numbers, not money, not the company's image.

People, just people!

Let's not let this become a war between people, it's not a fight of good guys against bad guys, of employees against managers, of people 'on the list' and people 'off the list', it's a battle for the dignity of people, of all people.

And if someone feels safe because he's not on the list, he has to fight harder, because, at the moment, he's stronger than the others.

We have to convince ourselves that if we continue to think only for ourselves and close ourselves off in total individualism, we won't go anywhere.

We wondered why our German and French colleagues were treated with dignity, while they are reserving this treatment for us? Haven't we Italians also participated actively and profitably in BI's turnover?

The answer is that only united groups win battles

Dear colleague, I want to ask you to be by my side, because today you support me and tomorrow I will be there for you and for anyone who will be treated with such little respect. All together we are a great force marching united towards a more human dimension of things

Only if we are in solidarity with each other will we be able to achieve something concrete and to those who say it is useless, ask them to prove it to you.

And when it's all over and it's time to take stock, we won't regret having looked the other way.

I already know what to do, I hope it's the same thing you'll do too.

The colleague by your side
