Hospital mobility and doctors shortage

In our country, hospital mobility has by now become a consolidated phenomenon: in 2003, the last year for which reliable data are available, there were 976,100 compatriots who had to be admitted to hospital structures outside their region of residence. Calabria (53,265), Campania (61,354) and Sicily (46,926), the areas from which residents emigrate the most (CENSIS).
In one year (between 2003 and 2004), about 1,700 doctors left hospitals and were never replaced (-1.6%). The record number of abandonments was in Emilia Romagna, where the 13% is almost close. Followed by Lombardy (4, 36%), Lazio (2.71%) and Molise (0.07%). In the university, the attendance of doctors increased by around 1.5%.
