UK: the law canceling the local health authorities presented to the Municipalities

The UK public health reform bill has been presented to the Commons, where the parliamentary process will continue. 80% from the National Health Service (NHS) budget will be awarded to general practitioners who join 500 consortia for patient services. The direct management of the funds will lead to the cancellation of 151 bodies and 10 institutions of supervision on health standards. 20,000 managers risk their jobs and expected savings are around 20 billion pounds. All hospital structures will be transformed into foundations and will be able to compete with private ones. 2 new entities will be established: Healthwatch, to monitor the performance of the new health facilities and manage any complaints from the public; Public Health England, to improve overall standards of national health care.
